What We’re All About
With the prime objective of the uplift of the classes and masses in and round the Lebong area, the Bhadra Sheela Memorial Institutions was initiated in 1980 with the Library Wing. In 1981 the School Wing was instituted with a view of catering only to the Primary Level but due to the pressure of the parents and guardians it was upgraded to the ICSE level in 1992 and again the the ISC level in 1999.
“Summon Bonum Disciplina est”, or in other words, “the highest good is discipline” is the motto of the Institutions because the vision is not only to educate future citizens in academics but to instill the values of life as the step out into the world.
Learn Something Every Day
Men, mainly the philosophers, have asked and re-asked this question, probed into the depths and gazed into the heavens searching the highest, the ultimate GOOD. It would vain to say that ‘here is the answer to the timeless riddle’. Permission granted, ‘here is AN answer, albeit a personal interpretation.’
Without discipline men become beasts, but then, beasts too observe their discipline. The good need discipline but without discipline the evil also cannot work. So discipline works for both the good and the evil and thus is honoured by both. Such is its uniqueness. But why should the evil ever need it if right from the very primary stages goodness can be instilled? This is the prime aim of BSMI School Wing, to rear future generations of leaders and statesmen with the knowledge and habit of spontaneous and innate discipline. The students are warned and the parents should take note that no concessions will be given to those who default.
By ‘spontaneous and innate’ it is meant ‘self-discipline, not that which is coerced’. Thus sself-discipline becomes the criterion to which all efferts are centered.

The Emblem
In the fertile fresh Green Field does a white Five-petalled Lotus bloom with a Lighted Lamp in the centre.
- GREEN:- Full, fertile, fresh and firm with promises of further fruition. In it is embedded the lotus.
- LOTUS:- The delicate rudimentary structure of sweet innocence and pettaled five.
- FIVE:- The continents, oceans, the Shilas, the Pentateuch of the Old Testament with the doubled number of Commandments, the Gospels of the Apostles with their Acts. FIVE a tenet number surrounding the lighted lamp.
- LIGHTED LAMP:-The cardinal light from which all emanate and to which all aspire.

Learn at Your Own Pace
The Institutions is about 9 Kms from Darjeeling town motor stand. Share taxis will drop one at the Golai Bazaar at Lebong from where the school is about half a Km downhill along the Rungdung Road. From the Golai Basaar one could walk down to school or hire a cab.
